This Privacy Notice explains how SkillSwap Ai chat coach ("SkillSwap", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our service. SkillSwap Ai chat coach is the data controller for personal data processed through the service.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, hashed password, account creation date.
- Learning data: the skills you create, chat messages exchanged with the AI coach, generated challenges, completion status, XP, levels, streaks.
- Usage & telemetry: pages visited, features used, timestamps, error logs, device and browser information, IP address.
- Support communications: messages you send us when requesting help.
- Subscription metadata: plan, status, and renewal dates. Payment card details are never handled by us — they are collected directly by Paddle.
2. How we use your data
- Provide the service (account creation, generating challenges, saving progress) — legal basis: performance of a contract.
- AI processing — your chat messages and skill information are sent to our AI model providers to generate coach responses. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Security & fraud prevention — legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Product improvement & analytics — legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Customer support — legal basis: legitimate interests / contract.
- Legal compliance — legal basis: legal obligation.
3. Who we share data with
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record. Paddle processes payments, manages subscriptions, handles tax compliance, and issues invoices. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
- Hosting & infrastructure providers — for hosting the application, database, and authentication.
- AI model providers — to generate coach responses and challenges from your inputs.
- Analytics & error-monitoring tools — to understand usage patterns and diagnose issues.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Some recipients may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where data is transferred from the UK / EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to safeguard it.
5. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can request deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below). Paddle retains transaction records as required by tax and accounting law.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. UK / EEA residents additionally have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. We respond to verified requests within one month.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and row-level security on customer data.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar technologies (such as browser storage) to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We may use analytics cookies to understand how the service is used. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break sign-in.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age set by your local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children without parental consent.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
